LED Lighting and Multi-Sport Upgrades Boost Sustainability
The Hoslebanen bandy and football stadium in Norway serves as the main facility for the sports club Øvrevoll Hosle IL (ØHIL). Hosle IL was founded in 1947 under the name Grav og Voll sports club. Sixty years later, the club merged with Øvrevoll Ballklubb to provide better facilities for its active athletes.
ØHIL offers a wide range of sports, including football, handball, bandy, ski jumping/nordic combined, alpine skiing, cross-country skiing, softball/baseball, and more. The club is particularly known for ØHIL Toppfotball, the women’s football team that plays at the second-highest level in Norway. Hoslebanen is the main arena and home of ØHIL. The official name is ØHIL Sportpark, and the facility has undergone significant renovations in recent years.
Renovation Transforms Hoslebanen Stadium
The need for a more versatile sports facility led to the renovation of the Hoslebanen stadium, aiming to create a combined sports facility for football and bandy. The new LED fixtures replaced old, conventional 1000 W sodium lamps, with an estimated energy savings of around 50%. The upgraded stadium is equipped with 46 LED fixtures from AAA-LUX’s WS series, mounted on six 20-meter high light poles. The lighting system, controlled via the DALI/Datek system, delivers 750 lux of illumination according to NS-EN12193 standards and features glare shields to limit light spill and protect the surrounding environment from disruptive glare. This upgrade has not only enhanced the aesthetics of the stadium but also improved the sustainability and safety of the sports facility.
The transformation of Hoslebanen has turned the stadium from a simple grass field into a versatile sports stadium for football and bandy, with upgraded artificial turf and facilities for artificial ice. The new lighting system not only provides a pleasant experience for users but also contributes to energy savings and minimizes light spill, protecting the environment from light pollution. Additionally, the renovation of Hoslebanen is expected to contribute to the growth and development of sports within the community, with Øvrevoll Hosle IL continuing to play a vital role in promoting a healthy and active lifestyle.
