Advanced LED Lighting Upgrade for First-Division Matches

Ågotnes Stadium is located on the island of Sotra, in the municipality of Øygarden. This is a few kilometres west of Bergen, Norway’s second-largest city. Ågotnes Stadium is the main arena of Øygarden IL, a fairly large sports club with more than 1,300 members. The stadium serves as a combined arena for both football and athletics, with a standard football pitch (64 m x 100 m) surrounded by six long-distance running tracks and eight 100-metre sprint tracks along the west side. The grandstand and clubhouse are also located here.

Seamless Transition to AAA-LUX LED System

In 2020, Ågotnes Stadium underwent a lighting upgrade, replacing old metal halide lamps with 66 state-of-the-art LED luminaires, installed on existing grid masts at a height of 30 metres. Installing new lighting presented challenges, especially in terms of wind load and power requirements that the old installation could not match. The AAA-LUX WS Series GEN 6 proved to be the only LED lighting system that met these rigorous requirements, enabling a seamless transition. The entire lighting system is precisely controlled via the AAA-LUX InControl system.

NO ADDITIONAL MEASURES NEEDED FOR LIGHT POLLUTION

The upgraded lighting transformed the sports facility, resulting in excellent and even field light without annoying glare. Located amid commercial and public buildings (with the nearest residential area 400 metres away), additional measures such as glare screens were not necessary. The new lighting meets the lighting requirements for TV productions at 1st division level, making Ågotnes Stadium ready to present Øygarden IL’s sporting achievements on an illuminated stage.
