Efficient Design Leads to Budget-Friendly Lighting Upgrade
At AAA-LUX Australia, investing in top-tier sports facilities is at the core of our mission. We aim to enhance sports at all levels while generating significant economic benefits through major sporting events. Our involvement in the ambitious development project of a 100-hectare sports area, which will become the largest regional sports precinct between Sydney and Melbourne, underscores our commitment to improving sports experiences through advanced lighting solutions.
NEW STANDARD FOR SUSTAINABLE SPORTS FACILITY ILLUMINATION
In 2020, the Baranduda Soccer Fields embarked on a transformative journey to set a new benchmark for sports lighting. AAA-LUX took the lead in illuminating two soccer fields and one AFL field, focusing on the soccer fields for this case study. Using just 20 WS270LS luminaires for the secondary field and 40 for the main 500lux field, the project demonstrated how advanced lighting technology can exceed professional-grade visibility requirements.
The innovative luminaires, designed to be lightweight and efficient, helped save on infrastructure costs by reducing the need for heavy poles and cross arms. This cost-efficient solution remained within budget while delivering exceptional quality, showcasing the potential for sports facilities to enhance athlete performance and spectator experience through modern lighting systems.
AAA-LUX worked closely with Positive Electrical and other experts to implement a “Best Practice” approach, creating a tailored lighting solution. The fields were calibrated to meet Australian Standards, ensuring 500lux for professional play on the primary field and 200lux for semi-professional use on the secondary field. Additionally, measures were taken to minimize spill light and adhere to national guidelines for wildlife, maintaining an environmentally sustainable approach.
This successful implementation highlights the commitment to collaboration, innovation, and ecological responsibility. By setting a new standard for sports facility illumination, the Baranduda Soccer Fields project underscores how advanced lighting solutions can elevate the sporting experience for players and spectators while prioritizing sustainability.
