LED technology puts show elements in the spotlights

LED luminaires strike instantly, allowing venue operators to include brief show elements during games illuminated by LED. LED luminaires have the advantage over conventional luminaires that they don’t need to cool down before they can be switched on again. However, as each show only lasts for a few seconds, it is essential that lights for the game will be switched off and come on immediately when instructed to do so. “That is why we needed superior-quality illumination with dimming options to enable various scenarios depending on the events,” Deliège adds. SHOW INTEGRATION POSSIBLE

The AAA-LUX luminaires at RTL Spiroudome illuminate both Spirou Basket games and Davis Cup tennis matches. “For professional basketball, broadcasters require uniform lighting with no shadows, while the Davis Cup needs up to 2,000 Lux,” says Deliège. The LED lights can be dimmed or switched off with a button, allowing for dynamic light shows.

Michel van Dooren from AAA-LUX explains that if connected to a DMX system, the lights could be integrated into these shows. The technology offers instant response and adjustable intensity, eliminating the need for separate lighting setups for game action and performances.
