HOW TO INSTALL LED LIGHTING ON A SPORT FIELD:
THE 5 KEY STEPS
Looking to upgrade your sports field with high-quality LED lighting? Whether you’re managing a municipal pitch, a training center or a professional stadium, here’s a clear roadmap for a successful LED installation: efficient, compliant, and future-ready.

1. It all starts with understanding your needs
Understanding the needs, expectations, delivery time required and current challenges are key to make up a proposal, also it is important to know:
- What sport or industry are we lighting? Football, padel, hockey, tennis? Port/Airport?
- Is this for community training sessions or national-level competition?
- Is the site located in an urban area, near residential homes, or out in the open?
- Are there existing masts or is this a full new setup?
With this information clear, we can work together to make up the best proposal.
2. Lighting simulation:
Turning plans into visuals
This is where the project comes to life.
With the use of specialized software, and / or our own Software solution Cupido, we can simulate exactly how the lighting solution will perform. In the exact geographical place if provided. Then we are able to define:
- Number and type of AAA-LUX LED projectors needed. Simulate with the use of Lightspill shields if needed.
- Their ideal positions and mounting heights
- Expected light levels and uniformity
- Compliance with sport-specific standards (e.g. EN12193, UEFA, national federations)
The outcome is a detailed rendering of your lighting setup, eliminating uncertainty and supporting informed decision-making. The lighting simulation is the start point to make up the budget for the lighting solution with AAA-LUX luminaires.
Bare in mind the controls!
Based on the lighting simulation, and the project itself, we move on to carefully selecting each component:
- Which components we will use to control the luminaires, Our InControl system can offer remote access, dimming scenarios, instant on/off capabilities.
AAA-LUX LED systems provide accurate, glare-free lighting tailored for athletes with zero delay and minimal light spill beyond the field. To know more about Light Spill Control :

3. On-Site Installation
Now it’s time to get to work on the field:
- Civil works if needed (foundation, trenching, cabling)
- Mounting of masts or reuse of existing structures
- Installation and aiming of luminaires
- Electrical connections and commissioning of control systems
We work with certified installers and plan around your schedule, even during active seasons.
4. Final setup & commissioning
Once everything is in place, we fine-tune the system:
- Precise alignment of each projector
- Light level checks across the playing surface
- Programming of lighting modes (training, matches, maintenance, etc.)
- Staff training for full autonomy and ease of use.
Our InControl system allows you to control the lighting remotely, monitor energy usage, and adjust in real time. Want to know more about it?

5. Long-term Performance
& Support
LED systems are low maintenance, but they still deserve attention over time:
- Periodic maintenance : cleaning of lenses
- System updates and performance checks
- Fast troubleshooting if needed — on site or remotely
Plus, with remote monitoring, we can detect and fix issues even before they become a problem.
